3D-style racing games to play in your browser: drive, kart and drift
You do not need a games console for a racing game that feels like it is rushing toward you. Three of our free browser racers use a classic arcade trick: the road is drawn in perspective, so curves, hills and traffic grow as they get close. It looks 3D, loads in a second and runs on any phone. The games are cartoon style with original cars, not simulators.
1. Sunset Drive: race the clock
Sunset Drive is an arcade road racer. Hold the left or right half of the screen to steer through bends and over hills, pass traffic and hit checkpoints to add time. The scenery changes from beach sunset to forest, neon city and snow, and later stages bring rain, steep hills that hide cars, and lane-weaving traffic.
Best for: a one-minute run for a high score.
2. Turbo Karts: win the cup
Turbo Karts puts you against five computer karts over three laps. Pick up item boxes for a boost, a shield or a jelly puddle, drift through bends to charge a mini turbo, and take dirt shortcuts. Finish in the top three to unlock the next circuit: meadow, beach and snow.
Best for: a few minutes of racing, or a same-race challenge with friends in a room.
3. Drift Master: slide it
Drift Master is a top-down drifting game on neon circuits. The car drives itself, you hold a side of the screen to steer, and the longer and wider you slide without touching a wall, the bigger your combo. Points bank when you straighten out, and a wall hit loses the points you have not banked.
Best for: chasing a combo and beating the clock.
Tips
- In Sunset Drive, look ahead, not at your car, and stay off the grass.
- In Turbo Karts, hold the steer into a bend to charge a drift turbo, and use shortcuts.
- In Drift Master, straighten out before a wall to bank your points.
