Sumo Circle

Sumo Circle is an original, respectful stylized ring-out sport, not a damage-bar fighting game or official sumo instruction. Articulated wrestlers in patterned ring belts compete on a modeled raised dohyo with a circular straw-rope boundary, lanterns, spectator stands, cushions and sporting props. Movement, inertia, body contact, stamina and a circular support-foot margin determine actual ring-outs. Planting LOW trades speed for traction and spends stamina when absorbing force; releasing pressure restores stamina. GRIP unlocks in bout 4 and loosens planted footing before pulling an opponent toward you or in the direction of your drag. SIDE STEP and committed CHARGE arrive in bout 9. Charges lock their direction before accelerating, so an evasive step or an anchored defense can punish over-commitment. Later AI can evade incoming shoves. Forty-eight deterministic short bouts mix planted, charging and mobile decision styles with increasing response speed; the opponent uses the same action, stamina, collision and ring-out functions as the player. Earn saved stars and unlock the next bout by achieving a physical ring-out. UTC Daily gives everyone the same bout and seed. Friends rooms compare separate identical seeded solo bouts, never human wrestlers sharing one ring.

How to play

  1. Drag the compass to move around the circular ring. Stay nearer the centre than your opponent. Hold SHOVE to close the gap and apply pressure; an out-of-range shove can miss.
  2. Tap PLANT LOW to brace before contact, then release pressure to recover stamina. From bout 4, hold GRIP / PULL and drag sideways with the same thumb to redirect an opponent rather than pushing straight into planted feet.
  3. From bout 9, read the gold charge-direction arrows and tap SIDE STEP or plant LOW before contact. Hold SHOVE from a gap to commit to your own charge. Arrow keys move; Space shoves, L toggles low stance, Shift temporarily braces, G grips, D side-steps and C charges. P or Escape pauses.

Questions

Do friends wrestle each other in one ring?

No. Each human independently faces the same seeded solo AI in a single finite bout. Scores compare centre control, clean shoves, successful pulls, remaining stamina and a ring-out bonus. The shared Kit supplies the room, optional scoreboard computer and final podium. Pip is the Kit's score-following computer, not a fourth physical wrestler.

How do progression, saving and Daily work?

Winning unlocks the next of 48 bouts and saves one to three stars plus your best score on this device. Replaying a previous bout cannot relock later bouts. The UTC date determines Daily's seed. Only a winning Daily advances its streak, at most once that UTC day; consecutive days add one and a broken streak resets to one. A previous day's bout finishing after midnight does not earn the new day's streak.

Is this an official sumo simulator?

No. This is a simplified, non-gory original browser sport focused on circular ring-outs, footing, stamina and leverage. It does not simulate all official rules, hand or knee touches, referee judgments or real-world training.

What happens when I pause, change tabs or lose WebGL?

Changing tabs pauses the solo simulation and requires deliberate Resume. Retry restarts the same seeded bout; progress, not animation frames, is saved. The shared room clock continues while paused. Missing WebGL or a lost context presents a visible Reload arena button; saved unlocks survive recovery.
