Soapbox Derby

An original 3D gravity racer with painted plank carts, exposed axles, spinning spoked wheels, steering ropes and animated helmeted riders. Race three physically simulated computer carts through 48 generated leafy village routes. Slopes supply acceleration; inside lean increases grip, while braking, sliding, hay bales, contact and recovery cost momentum. Smooth side lines appear from route 7, uphill links from route 13, and optional ramps over rough cobbles from route 19. Finish in the top three to earn pennants, stars and the next route. Handling is lane-guided arcade physics, not a free-steering rigid-body simulation. A race ends at the finish or after 85 seconds.

How to play

  1. Tap Roll and release the brake: gravity supplies all acceleration. Drag sideways or hold the Lean pads to choose a line and lean into bends. Arrow keys or A/D also lean.
  2. Drag down, hold Brake, or press Space/Down/S before a fast bend. Release early to carry speed across flat and uphill links. Marked side lines roll smoothly; a right-side ramp can clear slowing cobbles.
  3. Finish in the top three to unlock another hill. Pause deliberately, retry the same route, or use Push / Recover (R) to return toward the road centre with a speed penalty. A stopped cart receives only a walking-speed push.

Questions

Are friends together on the same road?

No. A room is one separate seeded solo challenge per human, with the same route-32 configuration and three on-track computer carts. The shared Kit compares finite whole-number scores and supplies optional scoreboard computer characters and the final podium. It is not synchronous human racing.

What saves, and what happens if I change tabs?

This device saves unlocked routes, best score, route stars, Daily bests and earned Daily streaks, not animation frames. A hidden tab pauses; returning requires an explicit resume. WebGL context loss offers an actionable reload screen. There is no engine, nitro or turbo.
