Reef Camera Survey

A full-3D reef survey with 24 seeded coral sculptures. Swim around the reef, aim the camera, set the focus distance, hold steady and press the shutter. Each photo sees only surface points inside the camera cone, in range, facing you, sharp enough and not hidden behind coral or stalks. A point counts as triangulated only when two usable photos see it from rays between 7 and 80 degrees apart. Win by reaching the survey coverage target with every region above its minimum, then press Submit. Survey 5 adds an underside that needs low-angle views, survey 9 adds calibration slates and repetitive coral texture, survey 13 adds turbid water that blurs distant shots, and survey 17 adds swaying vegetation that occludes rays. This is one reef with different seeded layouts, not 24 separate environments.

How to play

  1. Use the swim stick or WASD to move around the reef; UP/E rise and DOWN/Q sink. Drag the AIM pad or use the arrow keys to point the camera, and set the focus distance with the FOCUS slider or Z/X.
  2. Hold still until the status reads STEADY, then press SHUTTER or Space. Tab or COVERAGE shows red missing points and yellow single-view points; teal points are triangulated.
  3. When the coverage and every region readout are met, press SUBMIT or Enter. Submitting early is refused. Escape pauses, R retries outside rooms.

Tips

Questions

How do rooms work?

Three or more friends can compete on the same seeded first survey using the existing room lobby. Scores are the best banked survey. The shared computer is a scoreboard opponent, not another diver on your reef. A room run ends once, waits for the podium and cannot be retried locally.

What saves?

Best scores, unlocked surveys, per-survey records and successful UTC Daily streaks save on this device. Daily success counts at most once per date and failed Dailies do not count. Active swimming frames are not saved.

Why did my photos not count?

A photo only counts points that are in the cone, within range, facing the lens, sharp and unoccluded, and each point needs a second photo from a different angle. The message after each shot says how many points were triangulated.

What if the reef fails to render?

The game shows an explicit recovery panel. Enable WebGL and hardware acceleration, close graphics-heavy tabs and reload. A lost graphics context also stops the run and requires reload.
