Mate in One
Mate in One shows eight chess positions, one at a time, with a mate-in-one hiding in each. Tap a piece and a destination to play. Back-rank mates, queen kisses, smothered mates and discovered checks ramp up in difficulty. Wrong moves cost a strike, and each solve ends with a one-line explanation.
How to play
- Tap a piece to see its legal moves.
- Tap the square that gives checkmate.
- Solve all 8 positions before 3 strikes; use a hint if stuck.
Tips
- Check every check before settling.
- Look for the king's escape squares first.
- Use hints on the late, harder boards.
