Fencing Flash

An original, non-gory 3D sport-fencing circuit in a modeled brass-and-teal arena. Articulated masked fencers wear seamed jackets, mesh masks, gloves and laced shoes, with animated thin sport foils and protective tips. Footwork changes the actual contact distance; a correctly timed high or low parry diverts the blade and creates a short riposte opportunity. Both athletes use the same physical movement, attack, parry, recovery and one-point contact rules. The player's circuit objective also requires the displayed number of ripostes. Forty-eight seeded training bouts introduce two attack lines at bout 4, feints at 9, retreating measure at 17 and opposite-line second intentions at 33. First-three parry windows are forgiving; later windows demand more precise timing. Bouts take roughly 18–60 seconds. Stars, best score and unlocked bouts are saved on this device. The UTC Daily gives everyone the same seeded bout and awards a streak only for a win. Friends compare independent solo scores against identical seeded AI; humans never share the piste.

How to play

  1. Hold ADVANCE or RETREAT to set your measure. The outlined measure label tells you whether a committed lunge can reach. Arrow keys provide the same footwork.
  2. Watch the solid upward or downward commitment arrow, then tap HIGH or LOW to parry that line. H and L are keyboard alternatives. Hollow reading cues can be feints.
  3. After CLINK, close the gap if needed and tap LUNGE for a clean riposte. Space lunges; F makes an invitation once FEINT unlocks. Meet both the touch and riposte goals before the AI reaches its touch target or time runs out.

Questions

Is this an official fencing rules simulator?

No. This is a safe, stylized point-sport timing game, not real-world instruction. Contact is adjudicated through simplified distance and high/low blade lines, not full official foil right-of-way, off-target or referee rules. There are no injuries or damage bars.

Why did I reach the touch target without winning?

The circuit also requires the displayed number of clean ripostes. A riposte is a legal in-range touch during the short opportunity created by a successful directional parry. Ordinary touches still count, but cannot replace that objective.

What happens in a Friends room?

Three or more friends can compare scores against the same seeded bout-12 solo AI, with optional shared-platform computer competitors such as Pip. Each person has their own piste and input timing. The run ends once and waits for the shared final podium; there is no automatic restart or synchronous human-versus-human fencing.

How do saving and the Daily work?

Earned stars, unlocked bouts and best score are saved locally, not animation frames. The Daily seed changes at midnight UTC for everyone. Only an achieved Daily victory advances the streak, at most once that UTC day; a missed UTC day breaks the consecutive sequence.

Can I pause or recover the game?

Use the pause button or Escape, then deliberately Resume, retry the same seeded bout or return to the circuit menu. Hidden tabs pause automatically. The shared Friends room clock still continues. If WebGL is unavailable or its context is lost, an explicit reload button rebuilds the arena while retaining saved progress.
